◎ 모시는 글
올해도 복잡계 네트워크의 주최로 제3회 복잡계 컨퍼런스가 개최됩니다.
그 동안 행사 관계자 및 참여자 분들의 노력으로 두 차례의 컨퍼런스를 성황리에 마쳤습니다. 지난 두 해의 성과는 무궁무진한 학제간 연구 활성화의 중요한 첫 걸음임에 공감하실 것입니다. 다시 한 번 모든 분들께 감사의 말씀을 드립니다.
저희 복잡계 네트워크(COREN: Complexity of Research & Education Network)는 사회과학 및 자연과학의 다양한 분야를 아우르는 소통의 장을 표방해왔습니다. 올해의 컨퍼런스는 그 외연을 인문학으로 넓히고자 합니다. 그간 인문학에서도 많은 선생님들께서 복잡계를 화두로 새로운 학제간 만남의 지평을 열고자 노력하셨습니다. 이러한 노력들을 포괄하여 이번 컨퍼런스는 "복잡계와 인문학/사회과학의 만남"이라는 주제를 설정하고자 합니다. 인문학과 사회과학의 정성적인 강점과 자연과학의 정량적인 강점이 결합되어 시너지를 낼 수 있는 복잡계 학제간 연구의 새로운 미래상을 그려보는 뜻 깊은 자리가 될 것입니다. 아울러 자연과학자와 공학자, 인문학자, 사회과학자들이 허심탄회하게 소통할 수 있는 한층 더 성숙한 교감의 장이 되리라 믿습니다. 기존 생산적 실용적 연구의 전통을 넘어서 학문적 통합으로 나아가는 새로운 길의 기반이 되고자 합니다.

Call for Papers (Submissions due 24 June 2007)
The theme of the conference is the protection of computer networks. The conference will draw participants from academia and industry in Europe and beyond to discuss hot topics in applied network and systems security. EC2ND invites submissions presenting novel ideas at an early stage with the intention to act as a discussion forum and feedback channel for promising, innovative security research. While our goal is to solicit ideas that are not completely worked out, and might have challenging and interesting open questions, we expect submissions to be supported by some evidence of feasibility or preliminary quantitative results.

Submitting a Paper You are hereby invited to submit papers up to 6-8 single-spaced pages long. We particularly encourage position papers on preliminary work that shows promise, rather than mature and well-polished papers. Surprising results and thought-provoking ideas will be strongly favoured. All submissions will be reviewed by the Program Committee. Accepted papers will be published in the electronic proceedings of the conference. Some papers may have to go through a shepherding process in collaboration with one of the PC members.
